Hi everyone,

I’m reaching out because I’m feeling completely burnt out, and I’m not sure how to handle it anymore. I’ve been a full-time caregiver for my mother for the past 2 years. She has dementia, and while I love her and want to be there for her, it’s starting to take a major toll on my mental and physical health.

I feel like I’m constantly on edge, overwhelmed by the never-ending demands of caregiving. My sleep is affected, I can’t focus on anything outside of her needs, and I often feel guilty when I need time for myself. I also feel like I’m losing a sense of my own identity.

Has anyone here been in a similar situation? How did you cope with burnout as a caregiver? Are there any strategies or resources that helped you manage the stress without feeling guilty? I’d really appreciate any advice or insights.
